By car

Travelling from the south via B45 – Löhrtor – Löhrstraße – Markt – Neumarkt – Burgstraße.
Travelling from the north via Hagener Straße – Kampenstraße – Marburger Tor – Hinterstraße – Am Klubb – Neumarkt – Burgstraße.

You will find the “Hasengarten” car park directly in front of the entrance gate to the castle grounds. Further parking facilities as well as the multi-storey car parks Altstadt (at Löhrtor) and Rathaus/Markt (Hinterstr.) are located in the vicinity.

Upon presentation of your parking ticket from the Hasengarten car park (bottom section of receipt) you will receive free admission to the Siegerlandmuseum. 

By public transport

The long-distance railway station and railway station for regional transport is “Siegen central station”. Further information on train connections here.

The museum can be reached by bus lines C105, C106, C107 or with the Hübbelbummler. The bus stop is “Siegen Rathaus”. From there it is a 5 minute walk uphill via Nikolaikirche - Burgstraße. Further information on possible bus connections here.

School classes can take the Hübbelbummler directly from the school to the museum free of charge. More information here.

By foot

From Siegen main station it is about 20 minutes uphill via Bahnhofstraße - Kölner Tor - Kölner Straße - Nikolaikirche - Burgstraße. Access is also possible from the castle park. Further information on possible footpaths here.

What are the museum’s opening hours?

The museum is regularly open Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Different opening hours and regulations for public holidays can be found here.

How do I get to the museum?

You can reach the Siegerlandmuseum by car, bus or train. You can find more information here.
 

Is the museum barrier-free?

The exhibitions of the Siegerlandmuseum and the toilets are only accessible via stairs. The entrance door is also only accessible via steps. The castle courtyard is paved with cobblestones. There is no lift available in the Siegerlandmuseum.

Visitors with a disabled pass receive a reduced admission price.
 

Are (guide and assistance) dogs allowed in the museum?

Dogs are not allowed in the museum. If they are guide or assistance dogs, they are permitted.
 

Is there any seating in the museum?

There are a few places to sit in the museum. Visitors are also provided with mobile folding museum stools throughout the museum.
 

Is there a cloakroom in the museum?

There are coat racks and lockers in the foyer of the museum. Trolleys for backpacks and jackets are also available for groups.

May I take my bag into the museum?

Small bags can be taken into the museum. Unfortunately, bags larger than approx. DIN A4 cannot be taken into the exhibition areas. Lockers are available for storage in the museum foyer.

Is there a lift in the museum?

There is no lift in the museum.

May I take my pushchair into the museum?

Pushchairs cannot be taken into the exhibition. They can be parked in the foyer and baby carriers are available for loan at the ticket desk.

Is there a café or restaurant in the museum?

There is no catering in the museum itself. However, there is a wide range of cafés and restaurants in the neighbouring upper town of Siegen.

Is there Wi-Fi-access in the museum?

Free Wi-Fi is available in the museum.

May I take pictures in the museum?

Photographs may be taken in the museum for private purposes without flash. For posts on social media, please tag our account @siegerlandmuseum.

Can I get married in the Upper Castle?

It is possible to get married in the Hall of Mirrors in the Upper Castle. The hall offers space for 25 people, including the bride and groom and the witnesses. A subsequent champagne reception is possible in the Gothic Hall. Further information can be found here.
