About the museum

The Siegerlandmuseum in the Upper Castle (Oberes Schloss) is a city and regional museum with a diverse range of collections.

It features a large art-historical collection and presents paintings and prints by the Siegen-born Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens. As a secondary residence of the Nassau family, the Upper Castle and the city of Siegen are closely linked to the history of the House of Orange-Nassau, which is another focus of the collection. The history of the city of Siegen and the regional economic and industrial history also have a permanent place in the museum.

As a special attraction, a show mine was created under the courtyard of the Upper Castle in 1938, into which visitors can descend. From the tower of the castle, you can also enjoy a fantastic 360° view on the city and the Siegtal valley.

In addition, the Siegerland Museum offers a versatile program of special exhibitions, with a main exhibition in spring and a prints exhibition in autumn.
